Welcome to HotelGuide.Networks' directory of hotels and hotel reviews for Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico!

Just south of the Tropic of Cancer and often called the "Pearl of the Pacific," Mazatlan enjoys a long-held reputation as an idyllic beach resort city with an unusual degree of historic, cultural and architectural intrigue. The isles facing the sweeping bay and Crestón Island, site of the world's highest lighthouse (more than 150 miles above sea level) are two of Mazatlan's distinctive symbols, embellished all the more by spectacular sunsets. South of the state of Sinaloa, Mazatlan hosts one of the world's top carnival celebrations each spring, and is widely viewed as the most important port on Mexico's west coast. During the colonial era, Mazatlan was a major port from which ships, laden with gold, set off for Spain on extended journeys around Cape Horn. Despite being inundated by prospectors, pirates, and other invaders, Mazatlan managed to retain its sense of hospitality, warmly greeting 19th century arrival of Germans, Italians and gringos from north of the border to create a still-prevailing cosmopolitan air. A stretch of more than a dozen miles of beach separates the port region from the newer Zona Dorada, the Golden Zone of tourism in the north, creating two distinct sections of town. Mazatlan cuisine, anchored by fresh seafood is excellent, with dishes featuring large shrimp especially tasty. Fish, lobster, and crab cooked Sinaloa-style also are plentiful, along with international specialties. Popular leisure activity includes wandering through the city and its historic center, sunbathing on magnificent shoreline, sailing off to nearby islands via a variety of watercraft, world-class fishing and other watersports, and gazing at the horizon from hills such as El Faro and El Cerro de la Nevería. Mazatlan lodging ranges from intimate historic properties to sprawling amenity-filled resorts.
